Paper Monster

Paper Monster is a 23 year old stencil graffiti artist born in Puerto Rico. His paintings are based on ordinary woman about capturing the eyes and facial expressions of them. Within his artwork he incorporates stencil and pasting techniques to make pieces of art on any surface using pop culture icons, pattern and texture. Monster's work has featured in magazines and exhibitions throughout the world including: Melbourne Stencil Festival in 2008 as well as the Stolen Space Gallery. His work has taken prime since the last year. He was mentored by Parisian artist Blek Le Rat. Every painting  has a story to tell and conveys an emotion within it. The feelings could be: shock, fear, wonder even horror. He had no sustained themes to his work as it can have different colours emotions and lettering can vary in size and font. The paintings are environmental inspired. The women are from the Middle- East, USA and Europe and it shows the expression behind them. The name paper monster comes from the amount of paper that is piling up in his studio and this is apart of the process. Papers can be: newspapers, books, magazines also comics. The whole journey started out in 2005 on his research visit to France, Paris where he was comparing the streets of Paris and London where he met his mentor and spent the day with his family.

My opinions on his work are that they are colourful and vibrant and tell quite a good story. The process of his work is amazing a brings out the emotions of characters, the collages are well put together and create the most eye-catching picture.
