My take on Pop Art is an art movement that was produced post war time in the 50's that produces bright and colourful images of famous icons of time such as Marilyn Monroe. The movement behind it was that the time period was depressing after war and people wanted to express themselves so they create a colourful type of art to create a better mood to express their take on things. The main artist behind Pop Art are: David Hockney, Richard Hamilton, Roy Lichtenstein and Tom Wesselman and Andy Warhol all in the 20th century with some until present. Andy Warhol famously created the most iconic piece of this art movement which is of famous 50's star Marilyn Monroe. The main movement started with Britain in the early 1950's and the mid-late 1950's in the US. Time periods Pop Art was popular were the 1950-1970's and some still even to this day. My opinion on Pop Art is that its extremely bold and puts you in a good mood with all of the bright block colours which are used within it. It makes a change from having a normal portrait, Pop art gives a more vibrant feel and makes it good for posters and art to frame. It is also very skilled so the attention to detail that is used makes the painting stand out even more than normal.
